Article Icon 1California Tops $4.5 Trillion Economy

California has become the first state to surpass $4.5 trillion in economic output, new federal data shows.

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced the figure Monday, noting the state’s economy has grown by $1.58 trillion since 2019 and that its private sector alone has now passed $4 trillion.

The numbers come from newly released U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis data. On its own, California would rank as the world’s fourth-largest economy, behind only the United States, China, and Germany.

California ranked first in economic output across nearly every major sector in 2025. Manufacturing alone generated $391 billion, while the state accounted for more than 40% of U.S. computer and electronics manufacturing.

Article Icon 1California Leaders Rebuke Trump Remark

Speaking at a midterm campaign rally in Nebraska on Monday, President Trump suggested letting Iran “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego while discussing the war with Iran.

Trump called the economic toll of the Iran war a small price to pay for keeping the country safe. While discussing the possibility of Iran developing a nuclear weapon, Trump said Iran could “take out a city” before naming Los Angeles and San Diego.

California leaders condemned the remarks. Gov. Gavin Newsom said the president was advocating an attack on more than 10 million residents, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the comments dangerous.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria pushed back as well, saying his city is not expendable and should be kept out of the president’s war talk.

Article Icon 1Election Monitors Set for California

California officials are preparing for federal election monitors as the Justice Department plans to send roughly 1,000 monitors to all 50 states for the Nov. 3 midterm, in what officials call the largest such effort in department history.

Attorney General Rob Bonta says California is prepared to send state observers to watch the federal monitors and ensure they do not interfere with voting. The state took the same approach during the 2025 Proposition 50 special election, when federal monitors were sent to five California counties.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who oversees the federal effort, says the monitors are trained Justice Department legal professionals who will follow state law and observe voting. She also rejected concerns that immigration officers would be stationed at California polling sites, calling those fears baseless.

Federal election monitoring is not new, but its presence in California has drawn scrutiny from state leaders. The 2025 deployment followed a request from the California Republican Party, while Bonta says California voters should expect this year’s election to proceed as usual.

Costa Rica’s Blue Zone Breakfast

Most Americans think eating sweets for breakfast is unhealthy…

But according to Stanford researchers, there’s one delicious “dessert” food that Costa Ricans in the famous “blue zone” there eat each morning that:

✅ Keeps them lean even into their 70s, 80s, and 90s
✅ Slows blood sugar spikes and maintains healthy insulin sensitivity
✅ Keeps their blood pressure at normal, healthy levels
✅ Keeps their hearts and arteries strong and clean well into old age, with a striking lack of heart disease in their population
✅ Even helps them have seven times more centenarians than Japanese people

So what’s the No. 1 dessert food that helps Costa Ricans live healthy, lean, and energetic past 100? (See Report)

P.S. Here’s the surprising part. While Costa Ricans are living longer with this morning ritual, Americans trying it are losing seven pounds in a couple of weeks as a side effect.
