Homeless Nonprofit CEO Paid $1.6M

A taxpayer-funded Los Angeles nonprofit paid longtime CEO Carol Adelkoff more than $1.6 million in total compensation across 2023 and 2024.

Adelkoff said about $824,000 came from decades of unused vacation time. Her base salary has remained near $405,000, and the vacation balance has now been exhausted.

The 1736 Family Crisis Center operates 16 facilities across Los Angeles and Orange counties. About 94% of its $15 million annual revenue comes from taxpayer funding.

Adelkoff has lived in Hawaii for at least 11 years while running the nonprofit. Her recent compensation exceeded executives at several much larger Los Angeles-area service organizations.

Extremist Group Threatens Pasadena Hospital

A bomb threat from an extremist group known to law enforcement prompted a major emergency response Friday morning at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.

The threat was reported around 5:49 a.m. Police K-9 teams searched the campus while firefighters assisted, and emergency patients were temporarily diverted to other hospitals.

The hospital remained open to staff and patients under security screening protocols, while visitors were restricted and scheduled procedures continued.

Police gave the all clear shortly after 9 a.m. No suspicious devices were found, no injuries were reported, and officials have not identified the extremist group.

Vogue World Coming to San Francisco

Vogue World will come to San Francisco in early fall 2027, bringing the global fashion event back to California after its 2025 Hollywood edition.

Anna Wintour said San Francisco’s arts, creativity, and history of innovation made it a fitting host. The event previously traveled to New York, London, and Paris.

Mayor Daniel Lurie said the event will support local designers, musicians, artists and small businesses while drawing more visitors to a city still rebuilding its tourism economy.

Details including the date, location, and participating designers and celebrities have not been announced. Vogue World: Milano takes place this September before the event returns stateside.
