Article Icon 1Bianco Seizes More Ballots

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco seized 426 additional boxes of election materials last week, defying Attorney General Rob Bonta’s directive to pause his probe into more than 650,000 ballots from the November 2025 special election.

Bianco, a Republican running for governor, has now obtained three court-approved warrants since Feb. 9. Bonta filed a second lawsuit after an appeals court rejected his first on procedural grounds.

The UCLA Voting Rights Project and gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra filed a petition in the state Supreme Court, arguing the seizure violates state laws governing who can handle ballots. Secretary of State Shirley Weber said Bianco’s deputies lack elections expertise.

Bianco called the probe normal law enforcement and denied any connection to his campaign. It also emerged that the warrants were signed by a judge Bianco endorsed in 2022.

A White House spokeswoman dismissed the protests as Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions.”

Article Icon 1Tiny Flies Swarm San Gabriel

A population explosion of eye-biting black flies has San Gabriel Valley residents dealing with swarms of the tiny pests, with counts rising into the hundreds, up from single digits at this time last year.

The pests, small and hard to see, target people’s eyes and necks. A warm, wet winter followed by a late-season heatwave and elevated river levels created ideal breeding conditions in foothill waterways.

The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District has been treating breeding sites weekly along the San Gabriel River, starting well ahead of the normal season. The flies are hitting foothill communities from Azusa to Altadena.

Residents report severe allergic reactions from repeated bites to the face. The district says the flies are not known to spread disease and recommends DEET-based repellent and loose, light-colored clothing outdoors.

Last Days to Invest in the ‘Nvidia of Energy’ at $7.77/share

Nvidia’s valuation surged by 1,092% in just three years when it became the backbone of AI. But AI has a massive energy problem Nvidia can’t fix.
