Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, could face a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge after striking a parked car in Yountville on Friday and driving off.

A witness said the convertible hit the legally parked car on the 6700 block of Yount Street about 2:30 p.m., then briefly stopped before leaving. Deputies found Pelosi’s car nearby, partially blocking Yountville Cross Road.

Pelosi told deputies he knew he’d hit something but wasn’t sure what, and kept driving until his car became disabled, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said. A preliminary alcohol screening found no alcohol, and authorities said alcohol was not a factor.

He wasn’t arrested because no one was injured, and the case was referred to the Napa County District Attorney. Deputies also sent a driver re-evaluation referral to the DMV.

A family spokesperson said Pelosi apologized to the owner and would cover the damage. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI causing injury after a separate Napa County crash.

A woman in her 20s was killed and three other people were injured after a large quantity of fireworks ignited during a Fourth of July gathering in Chino, triggering an explosion that engulfed a vehicle in flames.

The blast happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 5600 block of D Street, where a crowd had gathered for a fireworks display, scattering debris across a front yard and the street. Witnesses said the explosion shook the ground and sent people running.

Four people, including a minor, were taken to the hospital. The woman later died of her injuries, two other adults suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive, and the minor was treated and released, according to the city.
